ABOUT THE BOOK

Some people are simply meant to be in each other’s lives. Like Claudia and Sam.

They were co-authors in Women Who Illuminate in August, 2019 - part of Kate Butlers inspired impact series.

“The minute I read Claudia’s chapter, I knew we had to connect!” Sam says with excitement. After going through the hardest time of her life, connecting with Claudia “reminded me that I do still have dreams, and together we’re making this one come true.”

Claudia adds:

Becoming an author and sharing my story of living with a mental illness while still creating a successful life, was something I always wanted to do. Meeting Jack Canfield in 2015 intensified that dream. That year I also met Kate Butler and I knew immediately that a book was in my future for sure. Little did I know that it would not be as I had originally imagined and that I would be joining efforts with other 29 women to bring my story to light with Women Who Illuminate, one of Kate's Inspired Impact Books. It was out of that successful experience that I began dreaming about a collaborating book of other individuals, who like me, were living with a mental illness.

When Sam and I met as co-authors in Women Who Illuminate and as fellow Jack Canfield trainers, we immediately knew that we would be working together as she also had the same dream I did and right away said "Can I join you in this effort to bringing this book to life and help you push this movement forward?" The answer was YES!

And here we are, 6 years after that idea, finally a book many can now read and share. With true life stories of incredible human beings making a difference every day and living the best life we can all while living with a mental illness. We are THE Faces of Mental Illness and while our illnesses are very different from each other, we are the faces we want the world to see and not the ones portrayed by the media or Hollywood. We are THE faces of hope, resilience, daily fight and success despite our diagnosis and we trust that the world begins to see that and continues to change the perspective they have on mental illness.

The two have many things in common, including their passion for changing the way the world views mental illness. They are also both certified trainers of Jack Canfield’s Success Principles and Methodology, and through implementing Jack’s work, Faces of Mental Illness was born.

Faces of Mental Illness is what this world needs. It’s a collection of real stories from real people collectively working to shine a different light on Mental Illness.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT FACES OF MENTAL ILLNESS

Deborah Sandella PhD, RN

#1 International Bestselling author of Goodbye Hurt & Pain, 7 Simple Steps to Health, Love and Success, and Creator of RIM, a heavily-backed neuroscience tool proven to reduce stress and improve quality of life. As seen in CNN, CBS, NBC, FOX and USA Today.

“Fernandez-Niedzielski, Ruth and Butler with their new book Faces of Mental Illness have cracked open the stigma of mental illness to reveal real people with touching human stories; their lives demonstrate how resilience and courage can navigate a journey to health. It’s time we see human faces instead of diagnoses behind what we label Mental Health. Our community of humankind is diverse and each person's journey unique. Mental illness is part of that journey for some the same way diabetes if for others. This book will open your heart and dissolve artificial separations amongst us. I recommend it.”

Kathleen Seeley

Founder: Massively Human Leadership

“Faces of Mental Illness is a book that grabs your attention immediately as you are fully immersed in the lives of these 20 brave individuals who have experienced such a wide range of mental illness symptoms and circumstances that most of us could not even begin to imagine; and yet, they have all found a way to live productive and positive lives. The real, raw and authentic stories you will find in this book paint the perfect picture of what is possible despite Mental Illness and invite us to join the movement to stop the stigma on an illness that is widely spread and highly misunderstood. I have certainly gained so much more compassion and understanding for these individuals as I have come to know several of them personally and would have never imagined they were struggling with mental illness. I highly recommend this book.”

Patty Aubery

Co-Creator of the billion-dollar publishing brand, “Chicken soup for the soul”, President of The Canfield Training Group, Best Selling author of Permission Granted

"This is more than just a book. Faces of Mental Illness is a movement, created by two women with a mission to break the stigmas surrounding mental illness and who are being supported by a publisher who wholeheartedly believes in this message. What Fernandez-Niedzielski, Ruth and Butler have created will move you, will inspire you; and most importantly, it will give you hope. In this world full of judgments and stigmas, these 20 brave individuals will open your eyes to what it’s truly like to live with a mental illness and still thrive! A must read for anyone facing mental illness”
